The Beat Room was a music programme on BBC Choice Scotland from 1998 which made the move to BBC2 Scotland.

The programme captured over 80 bands in live performance during its compressed three-month filming schedule in Glasgow at the end of 1998.

Early programmes were recorded in The Polo Lounge, a gay nightclub in Glasgow.

In July 1999 it transferred from BBC Choice Scotland to make its debut on BBC2 Scotland.

One spin-off from the series was The Story of Belle and Sebastian which was broadcast on BBC Choice Scotland on 9 June 1999.
